Gentle Ministry (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Gentle Ministry mobile application (the “App”).
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
A. Information you provide directly

Email address (used for account creation and login)
Display name / nickname (optional)
Profile picture (optional)
Prayer requests and comments you post
“Amen” reactions and any other content you contribute

B. Automatically collected information

Device information (model, OS version, unique device identifiers)
App usage data (pages visited, features used, time spent)
Crash logs and performance data
Approximate location (city/region level only – never precise GPS)

C. Authentication data (when you sign in)

When using Google Sign-In: we receive your Google email, name, and profile picture (as permitted by Google)
Firebase Authentication tokens (used only to keep you signed in securely)

We do not collect:

Precise location
Phone number
Payment information (the App is completely free)
Contacts, messages, photos, or any other personal files

2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:

Create and manage your account
Authenticate you and keep you signed in
Display your name and photo (if provided) next to your prayers
Let others see and “Amen” your prayer requests (if you choose to post publicly)
Send optional daily verse notifications (if you enable them)
Improve the App (analyze usage trends, fix bugs)
Prevent abuse, spam, and inappropriate content
Comply with legal obligations

3. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information only in these limited cases:

With Firebase / Google services (for authentication, storage, database, crash reporting)
With our hosting/cloud providers (data is stored in secure servers)
If required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or property
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (you will be notified)

Your prayer requests are visible to other users of the App (unless we add private/prayer group features in the future).
4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Google Cloud / Firebase servers (secure, encrypted at rest and in transit)
We use industry-standard security measures (HTTPS, access controls, regular audits)
Prayer content is stored indefinitely unless you or we remove it
Profile data can be updated or deleted by you at any time

5. Your Rights & Choices
You can:

Update your display name or photo in the app settings
Delete individual prayers (if implemented)
Request deletion of your entire account (contact us — see section 9)
Turn off notifications at any time
Uninstall the App (this stops all data collection)

We will respond to valid deletion or access requests in accordance with applicable law (including Ghana’s Data Protection Act).
6. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it immediately.
7. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside Ghana (primarily the United States, where Google’s servers are located). These countries may have different data protection laws. We rely on standard contractual clauses and other appropriate safeguards when transferring data.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy in the App and updating the “Last updated” date.
